Multi-language support is provided in the Mobile App Interface and Data Entry Forms you might create. The default language options in both areas are English, Spanish, and Dutch.

However, Application as a Service subscriber can customize and add their own.

The Mobile App Interface has static text like Exit Without Saving or Write to NFC tag was successful. Static text throughout the App will only change if a new version is released.

Data Entry Form translations can be added to a Form's Designer and are available once the form is saved or published. Allowing for a single form that supports multiple languages instead of creating a form for each.

Translating your Apps and Forms

There are two areas where you can provide translations:

  • App Translations: for App text using the Static Translations text file.
  • Form Translations: for the Forms you design using the Designer Language option.

Here's some additional information about Adding Multiple Language Support to Your Branded App

App Translations

App translations are for the static text that won't change unless the App does. Translations are done by downloading a Translation file, translating, and then uploading it back to the platform. The next time your users log into the App, the language will be available for them to select.

You need to provide the App translation first before you can make Form translations.

Translations File Download

In the Web Portal:

  1. Navigate to Platform & Billing > Branding Center. Near the top-left, hit App Settings.
  2. DOWNLOAD TRANSLATIONS FILE and edit or add translations.
  3. Once edited, upload the new translation file by clicking SELECT NEW.
  4. Hit Save.

Translating App Text

In the downloaded translations .xlsx file, you'll see language translations in columns. To add a new language translation:

  • Copy/paste the English column to a new column at the end.
  • Rename the language name. The text you enter here will be displayed as the App's language selection.
  • Translate the text to your new language.

A convenient way to translate the Languages file is to use Google Translate to provide automated translations. We recommend you have a native speaker check the translations provided.

Form Translations

When designing forms, you can provide language translations for Form titles. The form's language option allows for toggling between languages and each language's custom field title text.

  1. Locate and click Language at the top right of the form designer.
  2. Select the language to use from the drop-down.
  3. Hit Apply.

Each title in the designer will show the text you entered:

  • The English version will be shown if no translation has been provided for the selected language.
  • Type the translated text for each title.
  • Once done, hit Save.

In-App Language Selection

Once you've provided App and Form translations, the App and Forms can be shown in that new language.

You'll need to Sync the App to get access to new Translations.

When you push new languages to your field staff, they must first make sure the App has been synched to fetch the new language details:

  • Log into the App and Force a Sync.

Any new languages will become available. To select a new language:

  • While still in the Setup screen, tap the Language drop-down.
  • Select the language you want.
